Rated 2 out of 5 by from interesting response from customer service I just had the beverage center installed a couple of months ago and have encountered fluctuating temperatures in my upper section from 30-58 degrees, at least as indicated on the digital read-out. I just got off the phone with a nice customer service agent who informed me that the technician told her that was normal, just like a refrigerator when the compressor goes on and off. Maybe, but it is hard to believe that is the way it was intended to operate. I also asked why that was not included as a whirlpool response to all of the other reviews, since it would save a lot of time for everyone to know this is standard. It may be fine, but I am not yet comfortable with that answer. My account number is 631263509.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Update on: Great concept We had the tech come out today to service the unit due to the constant fluctuation in temperature. He said the unit is working as it should. He indicated the temp would auto adjust depending on how many beverages are in the unit. However we noticed, even with it empty the temp. varies greatly. Considering the ad for this product indicates the unit's dual zones allow it to be customizable (which is indeed not true), I have sent an email to request a refund.I'll update when I receive a response.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your money We bought the beverage center in June 2016. Appliance was not installed into our new kitchen until October 2016 and immediately noticed the temperature fluctuations. You could look at the beverage center and the temperature would say 55 degrees and then 20 minutes later it changed to 30.Contacted the store we purchased the center from and they replaced it with a new one within a couple of weeks. Within days of the new beverage center being installed it was showing same problems as the first one. We are now experiencing problems with the store we purchased it from as they don't believe that the beverage center is not having the problems we are describing. After reviewing the reviews on the manufactured website and showing several to them and are finally willing to listen. We are not impressed with this product since neither one actually kept the beverages/wine cold. Save your money and don't purchase this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DIGITAL READOUT IS ALL OVER THE MAP! Installed this beverage center about a week ago and am very disappointed! The digital readout is very erratic.upper zone ranges from 28- 55 and changes every 10 minutes or so. The lower one is around 45-55 and changes the same. I called customer service and after being on hold for almost an hour, spoke to someone who was useless. She said there was no tech to talk to or to be had. Gave me a local number and after I called this local appliance repair shop I was told that they don't service Whirlpool at all. This is a disgrace for a once excellent company! I will think twice before I buy another product from Whirlpool or recommend to anyone.Poor product and poor customer service. Sad.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Temp control is erratic The temp level in both top and bottom are always fluctuating. The top shelf does not have enough options to create space for bottled beer [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not too sure about this one We love the look and it seems to be working okay, but the read-out of the temperatures goes all over the place! We had a service guy come out, he said it was the "motherboard", had to order it, then no motherboards are available, so they replace the whole thing. The second one still does the same thing. Service guy came to look at it last week and he adjusted a few things - said it hadn't been installed quite right and to leave it for 48 hours. We have, and it's still all over the place as far as the temp readouts. It seems to be working fine, though, so I guess it's okay. It's just confusing when one minute it says its "28° on top and 40° down below", then you look again after a while - NOT having touched the controls!!! - and it's "40° on top and 52° below". I'm going to call again to have them look at it one more time. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works Great except for Digital readouts I read the first review the day I received it and wasn't looking forward to my experience. Upon plugging unit in, I let the temperature settle before loading and paying any mind to the digital readouts. After 24 hours, the right display (top section) had a 22 degree swing and the left display had about a 4 degree swing. I called Whirlpool and a tech came out. I was first advised to move away from the HVAC vent directly under the unit as it would give thermocouple false readings during the winter with the heat on. Tech ordered a new thermocouple and digital readout module. When he came back to install the parts, the AC was on and we thought maybe the AC was giving the thermocouple a false cold reading and allowing the internal temperature to rise so high. I moved the unit and same type of results but not as drastic. I then took it upon myself to sanity check the readouts with a mechanical dial thermometer inside the unit. Here is what I've observed over the last 24 hours; 34 on dial, 44 on readout; 35, 48; 30, 40; 33, 33; 38, 51. I've sent a pic to the tech and awaiting feedback. So as the title states, unit works well, need to ignore the digital readouts or have them replaced.

Measure Your Space

Side-to-Side:

Add 3-3/4" minimum space to hinged side & 1/2" to non-hinged side for door clearance and airflow. Side-by-side refrigerators have hinges on both sides, so you'll need to allow 3-3/4" on each side.

Back-to-Front:

Add 1/2" to back. Allow extra space for water lines if model has icemaker or water dispenser.

Top-to-Bottom:

Add 1/2" to front.

Cutout Space:

Measure height, width and depth of refrigerator cutout space in kitchen.

Entrance & Doorways:

Measure doorways, hallways and entry points that unit must pass through.

Decide What Type

Bottom Freezer/French Door:
  • Easy storage for bulky or wide items
  • Combines benefits of side-by-side and bottom-freezer configurations
  • Fresh food is at eye level
  • Capacities range from 18.5 - 30 cu. ft.
Side-by-Side:
  • Wide range of freezer capacity options
  • Through-the-door ice and water dispensing
  • Narrower doors make access easier in tight kitchen spaces
  • Capacities range from 22 - 30 cu. ft.
Top Freezer:
  • Great value
  • Available with features such as flexible beverage dispensers
  • Frozen food is easily accessible
  • Capacities range from 14.4 - 22 cu. ft.

Additional Considerations

Important Considerations
Energy Efficiency

Your refrigerator is one of the few home appliances that run all day, but usage cost is a factor many people forget to consider. An older or inefficient refrigerator uses more energy, meaning a new refrigerator can actually save money.
Aging refrigerators work harder and cost more to operate as refrigerants and seals degrade over time. Units made before 1999 may not meet current Department of Energy usage guidelines. Some bottom-freezer refrigerators consume less energy than a 60-watt bulb.

Disposal

Haul away is available for replacement product purchases. Unhook and move the unit you wish to be hauled away to an area from which it can be easily removed. Haul Away Details >

Installation

We offer installation options for major appliances that do not require gas or water hookup, and are not a built-in unit. Eligible products will display the installation service during checkout. Installation Details >
